1. Tea in all its glory
The family knows the simplest way to make my day is to bring me a cup of tea in bed, but I am rather fond of other things with the word ‘tea’ in them – tea dresses, teapots and pretty tea towels, such as the Folklorian linen one I’ve just spotted on mozi.com.au.
2. Audrey on a pot
I’ve loved Audrey Hepburn since I was a teenager watching Funny Face (which I may have over-related to), and here she is on a porcelain flower pot I can sit on my desk or coffee table. (Available from until.com.au)
3. Plants!
Mother’s Day would not be the same without a gift from the nursery. I gave my mum two blueberry plants a few years ago, and they produce so much fruit now, I want my own. Top of my list is Blueberry Burst, for its super large fruit and nonchalance in warmer climes.
4. Outdoor Heater
It’s late afternoon, and time for another cuppa but now, I’m sitting outside. How sublime it would be if my big-ticket wish came true – a Gasmate Deluxe Stainless Steel Flame Heater, to make winter afternoons on the patio deliciously cosy.
5. ABC Gardening Australia magazine of course!
If the teenage son is wielding the tongs and tea towels tonight, I might be able to lose myself in a magazine for a while. If I didn’t already have access to ABC Gardening Australia magazine (because it’s rather abundant where I work), I’d ask for a subscription to it. I love receiving things in the mail that do not contain BPAY instructions, and where else can I read such entertaining and engaging articles about plants, gardens, and the whole business of getting dirty?!
